The Importance of Audio in your Wedding Film

It’s no secret that audio is what sets video apart from any other aspect of the wedding day.  These moments are not frozen in time, they are current and able to be revisited as they truly were in the moment.  It’s not just about remembering what your fiance looked like on the wedding day, it’s about what they sounded like, too.  Did they start to get choked up when you saw each other?  Did they whisper how beautiful you look?  Did your grandparents gasp when they saw you?  Did they tell you how proud they are of you and reminisce on how quickly you grew up?

Throughout a wedding day, there are moments of candid audio, and planned audio.  Both forms are equally as special, important, and useful when crafting a wedding film. The moments that are unplanned typically fall throughout the film in moments such as the first looks, getting ready with parents, and the giggles of time spent with the bridal party. These pieces of audio fill in the moments of the film and help draw you into the emotion of the day.

Planned aspects of audio are typically personal vows, private letter readings, ceremony audio, and speeches. This is the audio that helps connect and create the story of a wedding film. An entire highlight film could be built from the planned audio alone, and pieced together with the video to accompany it. Although it can feel uncomfortable reading letters or personal vows outloud, this type of audio truly tells the most genuine and authentic story of your emotions and feelings on your wedding day.

In 30 years from now, are you going to dislike that your voice started to shake as you read a letter from your soon to be husband or wife? No.  Will you think twice about the way your voice sounds on camera?  No.  Will you wish that you didn’t write personal vows and share these promises filled with hopeful intention with each other on your wedding day?  No.  In 30 years from now, you will only be thankful that you did.
